Christmas came early....

Our family just wanted to share with you all that our kids got one of their Christmas presents early....  we adopted a kitten. His name is Romeo Dash(to make Adam happy) Hurst, and he is 5 months old. He weighs about 5 1/2 pounds and has been loving running around and exploring his new digs. He seems to be very social and likes to be where we are. We are looking forward to this new adventure. Here are a few pictures from his first week as a Hurst..... he sure is fun!

New Adventure for Grace

Well, Grace is trying something new..... CHEERLEADING. The cheer season has begun and she is in full swing with practices and games. She is one of the bases for the formations (thank goodness). I know that her Mom is happay about that. She is a very happy cheerleader. GO GRACE - not many girls get to wear their names on their uniforms, but she wears it proudly.

Pumpkin Farm field trip

Today, Adam and I went on a field trip to the Pumpkin Farm. The Waldvogel pumpkin farm in located just north past Horicon - quite a drive but today was finally a "good weather day". This was probably our last trip to the pumpkin farm (I think that Gary and I have gone to the pumpkin farm for about 6 or 7 years with the kids). Here are a few shots from our time there. What a fun day!
Love you Buddy :)

Sunday Canoe Trip with Dad

On September 26th, dad and I got to take the canoe out for a day trip in Monches, Wi.  We had a great time. The weather was overcast and looked like it might rain any minute, but it never did. The first picture is a map of the route we took. The view was wonderful, with the glassy water, reflections and colorful foliage— although it wasn't quite peak fall color yet. We chased a Blue Heron around a couple of bends in the river and watched it as it hunted the base of the cattails for fish. We also saw blue jays and a muskrat. We went under a few bridges including one we had to lay down to get under, and as we rested at the picnic spot on Lowes Lake we watched the fish jumping. We went a little bit past Lowes Lake to see what was around the bend, but decided to head back as it was getting darker. It was a fun trip and we learned a really good lesson too.... when a muskrat goes by, at least one of the two people in the canoe should pay attention to where the canoe is headed... :)  after we backed away from the tree it was smooth rowing home. Thanks for a great day dad! Let's go again soon!

Grace turns 11!

Well, last weekend our "little" Grace turned 11 years old. It is amazing to us how quickly the years pass. God truly has blessed Grace with a wonderful smile and a heart that is full of HIS love. She was able to participate in a class project just before her birthday that included filling food packages to send meals through the "Feed My Starving Children" program. She truly loved doing this, and wanted to share more. She has demonstrated God's love and compassion in so many of the things that she does everyday. She is truly a blessing in our lives and the lives of so many others. We love you Gracie - Happy 11th Birthday our Geocaching Girl!

The new school year

Well, the school year has started off very well for the Hurst kids. They are learning new and exciting things this year. Grace is in 5th grade this year, which allows her to be in sports at her school. This year she has decided to participate in Girls softball, cheerleading in the winter and volleyball in the spring. Her softball team played their first game this week and won by a whopping score of 15-2. It was very exciting for their first game. Her team consists of 5th and 6th grade girls. Here are a couple of pictures for the game. Enjoy!

Kasey is off and running in 8th grade. She has some fun and exciting courses this year. She is taking a fashion design class, a painting and print making class, and a design and build class. In this class she is one of 3 girls. This is our creative girl. She does have the basic courses too, but those aren't as exciting to talk about.

Finally Adam is learning a whole bunch of stuff in 1st grade. How exciting to have homework, even though he doesn't think so.

We are very proud of all of them, and pray that they have a wonderful year.

Final road-trip before school starts

Well we took our final family road-trip before school starts for the year. We made our way up to Minneapolis Minnesota. We left on Friday and spent some quality time in the pool at the hotel...

Then it was off to meet the newest member of our family... RHYS(what a cutie pie)

We did make it over to the Mall of America to go to Lego Land. It was closed for renovations until November - but we were still able to go to the Lego store. Adam and Gary had alot of fun going through all of the Star Wars items. It is a super fun store and brings the kid out in you. We had a fun time just hanging out with Shelley  and Erik and Rhys for the rest of the time, then it was the long drive home.
We miss them already and can't wait for our next visit with them.

Our little Boy is 6

WOW, it is hard to believe that our little Adam has turned 6 this past week. Our lives were forever changed on August 1, 2004. We were set in our ways with 2 young girls, but then God blessed us with our little boy. He has been a joy to our lives, and we can't imagine our world without him. He will be a wonderful man someday.... just hopefully not too soon. I never want him to grow up.... but I know that can't happen, so we will have to savor every moment with all of our kids. They are only little for so long.

Adam had a friend birthday party on Friday, July 30th,

Then we took him to Build-a-Bear on Saturday, July 31st. This was a promise that his Daddy made with him 1 year ago.

He is looking forward to a family birthday party tomorrow (Saturday, August 7th). He has had a great week. His Daddy made him this AWESOME baseball bat birthday cake for his family party. We continued to eat this cake for the next week, but it was so cool. It was an Adamville Slugger.

We love you Adam and happy 6th birthday little man!

South Dakota Vacation

We had a great family vacation out in South Dakota/Wyoming in June. The Kids enjoyed the camping and sightseeing. Chris cried when we came around the corner and saw Mount Rushmore.  All in all it was a fun and exciting time together as we got mixed into the history and beauty of America.  I of course enjoyed being the photographer of our expedition (along with Kasey who took 700 photos) so attached are a few of  my favorites with captions.
